"a diamond is forever"

Hifive to all:)
I am a female and as all females do..i also love diamonds in any beautiful form they may exist. For writing a post on this .. the inspiration came from my graduation when i was studying Geology. It was a great experience to see how rocks , soil , rivers, snow and practically everything changes its shape and form once devoured by the natural forces. It made me feel for all the hard things which otherwise may not seem important. I collected rocks, fossils, stones, fossil wood .... measured them by their traits and fell in love with them. The intoxication was so great that it caused me to use an adjective like "cute" for a rock. Anyways i think i have blabbered quite a lot already about the divinity of rocks....so, i propose that we move to the cutest of rock called "diamond" ;)

Diamond as we all have studied is the octahedron form of carbon, the hardest mineral and possessing a very high refractive index. This makes the mineral "sui generis". I think the information suffices the basic scientific requirement.

Lets see then how the mineral evolved from the mantle to the earth and swayed us all by its beauty and rarity. Diamond .............................. as the story goes was found in a river in South Africa. The district where it was found was at the time headed by Lord Kimberley and being a powerful political leader he wanted his name to be attached with such a great discovery and thus he announced the name of the mineral as "kimberlite". This is the name by which we all know the ore of diamond even today. So a hifive to him and his idea!! Thereafter , South Africa, a continent known for being unknown to others became the biggest potential for diamond mining.

The whole activity caused a Britisher to come up with the idea of De Beers in 1888, the company which even today is the pioneer in selling and distribution of diamonds across the world. Its headquarters are in Johannesburg , South Africa. But the hugely mined area is in Antwerp, Belgium. Also, today, others have jumped into the trade and reduced the monopoly once held by the De Beers Group. Nations like India, Russia, Australia and Canada are marketing diamond on a huge scale.

But beyond all that has happened and is happening De Beers maintains its position as an acer in the diamond industry. The ad campaign called "a diamond is forever" is apt and has been running since ages and is contributing the best of all. The tagline has been in market since ages and survives through its phenomenol popularity.

De Beers has remained with diamond since its discovery to its advertising and marketing stages and it seems to me that the founder was as much in love with diamonds as any female would be. But he modified this love into a profitable venture thus creating and destroying the nature of it. He introduced to us not only diamond but the innumerous laws of economics; one amongst them being.................
Diamond is such a mineral whose price is not decided by the general law of supply - demand of economics. In fact, the truth is the dearer it becomes the more the demand rises.

All said and done..i will be filing certain print ads and other posters on the blog over a stylised jewellery brand whose brand name, punchline, logo and every design has been done by me.Hope you like it.
